In almost any shape and colour, THERMOLAST K® simply feels pleasant and warm (pre-destined application areas:
Consumer, care, toys, appliances ...), acts as an outstanding sealant (automotive, electronics, construction ...) and adheres in an excellent manner to almost all conventional thermoplastics.
The material is also non-slip, highly-insulating and shock-absorbent, acid-resistant, alkaline-resistant, can be labelled and printed, is electrically insulating, UV-resistant, highly-transparent or foamable in all colours, elastic, weather-resistant, flexible at low-temperatures, thermally-resistant, hydrolysis-resistant, 100% recyclable, sterilisable ...
Not only do we offer your optimum

Rubberlike properties The graph shows the rubberlike properties of different formulated THERMOLAST K® compounds. These values should give an indication of possible rebound resilience. By formulation the compound individually both absorbing and resillent compounds are possible.
Hardness from 5 Shore A to 66 Shore D THERMOLAST K® is compounded on the basis of SBC (SEBS and SEPS), and is therefore part of the family of styrene-based TPEs (TPE-S). It covers a hardness range which cannot be achieved with other TPE classes. The hardness spectrum ranges from 10 Shore A to 66 Shore D.
Excellent resistance against uv, ozone and weathering The table indicates results from a range of weathering tests, carried out in accordance with existing automotive standards. Most THERMOLAST K® compounds are suitable for outdoor use under moderate and normal conditions.
For extraordinary requirements like german "Fensternorm" RAL 716/1 or new automotive standards KRAIBURG TPE provides appropriate compounds and series.
Low temperature flexibility Low temperature behaviour was tested for three typical THERMOLAST K® grades in different hardness.
High thermostability The graph shows the curves of shear modulus and logarithmic dedrements plotted against temperature. THERMOLAST K® is affected by a remarkable small reduction in values across a wide range of temperatures. The test was carried out in accordance with DIN 53 445, Torsion Pendulum Test.
Electrical properties
Resistance to hydrolysis Resistance to hydrolysis was tested by using three typical THERMOLAST K® compounds.
Simple processing on plastics machineryTHERMOLAST K® compounds can be processed on standard equipment, both injection moulding machines and extruders. Also existing moulds can be used very often without modification. This does mean cost intensive investments are generally not necessary when starting with TPE moulding.

All Compounds are based on styrene block copolymers. Customizing according your requirements is possible, e.g. hardness FDA conformity
Remark: Processing, as well as part design and ingredients of the rigid material can have major impact on the adhesion stregth. Trails under realistic conditions are generally adviseable.
