Reporting on Sustainability, Climate Management, Energy, Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety 2021

Although the 2021 reporting year brought many challenges, efforts involving sustainability have been further intensified. High priority was given to making an inventory and defining qualitative targets. This was conducted at both business and product level. Sustainability has been integrated into the corporate strategy aiming to established it as a core competence by 2023.

To advance progress on this matter, local sustainability boards have been established, which design and coordinate measures and make sure that the objectives are achieved. Establishing sustainability as a core competence by 2023 describes KRAIBURG TPE’s project to further expand its role as competence leader among TPE manufacturers.

Circular economy

 

According to the definition of the EU parliament, circular economy is an economic system in which existing materials and products are shared, leased, reused, repaired, refurbished, and recycled as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended, and waste is reduced to a minimum. This means a change in the economy from a linear model to a regenerative system with closed circular systems driven by renewable energies. But the idea of recycling and circular systems must not be limited to the company’s own business activities. The social change from a linear economic system to sustainable thinking and acting in closed circular systems must also take place outside one’s own company.

 

Climate and energy

 

Since today’s most urgent social debates involve the key issues of climate and energy, We committed ourself to minimizing our carbon footprint, reducing water consumption and cutting down emissions to a minimum. The focus is also on maximizing production efficiency and achieving a high recycling rate for waste material in the longer term. We reduced our corporate carbon footprint emissions by 25% since 2012. The reductions largely relate to Scope 2 (energy), Scope 1 (company vehicles) and Scope 3 (air travel).
        

Social matters and health

 

Our success is based on our staff members. The company has therefore established clear guidelines for protecting and supporting them.

COMBINED REPORT 2021

Our Combined Report 2021 is based on the report on occupational health and safety and environmental protection and will be gradually adapted to the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) so that a final changeover can take place in 2023/2024. This voluntary reporting relates to the Waldkraiburg site in calendar year 2021.
