'Coffee to go' is convenient and a welcome stomach and hand warmer when the cold hits while shopping or sightseeing. Less nice, however, was the waste problem with the plastic-coated paper cups, stirrers and drinking straws that were often simply 'dumped' on the sidewalks. Which is why they've been banned from sale by EU regulation since July 2021. This also affects the previous disposable lids for on-the-go beverage consumption.

Holistic
Sustainable reusable solutions are therefore more in demand than ever, and the plastics industry is supplying them. However, they often start at a point of recycling that falls short. Namely, when the new products are already shredded and recycled again before the material has even come close to reaching the end of its useful life. This is basically a waste of resources that could be avoided in many cases with more holistic concepts, clever design and with more 'flexible' materials in several respects.

Quality from experience 
Mahlwerck Porzellan has been following a sustainable path with takeaway products since 2008. The first takeaway coffee porcelain cup saw the light of day 13 years ago and quickly became a bestseller for the premium manufacturer of printed and glazed porcelain from Kolbermoor. In addition to a stylish appearance, the porcelain manufacturer attaches particular importance to high-quality material, neutrality of taste, durability and an excellent eco-balance.

Climate-neutral and reusable
The company sets the same criteria for the lid of the reusable cup, and so here, too, the focus is on durability and sustainability. In addition, the focus: uncompromising leak-tightness. It's no wonder that the company, which has been producing climate-neutrally since 2018, opted for the fully recyclable and dishwasher-safe TPE from Waldkraiburg. Thus, together with the Bavarian porcelain manufacturer, we are developing a reusable lid that stands out in several respects due to its positive properties in the area of sustainability. It is not only climate-neutral and made of fully recyclable TPE. Thanks to the material from Waldkraiburg, it is also dishwasher-safe, and can therefore be hygienically cleaned and reused many times without any problems. A robust solution that 'keeps the lid on' even after a long life - as a perfect, pure product for economic recycling in the material cycle. And as an exemplary example of how sustainability with brains does not mean sacrificing comfort and enjoyment.
