Sustainability? Only works holistically! 

KRAIBURG TPE - Focus on sustainability #1

Have you ever tried to master a major challenge by waiting for the problem to solve itself? Or by only half-heartedly solving a partial aspect? Doesn't work? No surprise here! And that's exactly the case when it comes to environmental sustainability. If you don't take a holistic approach, you will fail in protecting the environment, resources and the climate.

Active
Holistic not only means acting responsibly in all areas and activities of the company. It also means actively involving our suppliers, employees and customers in the sustainability journey - even on a small scale. Because in the overall balance sheet, every single sheet of paper that we don't use and every lamp that doesn't burn unnecessarily counts. And in the sustainable life cycle of our TPE compounds, only those applications that are compatible with the goals of sustainable materials management can score points. This means, for example, taking subsequent recycling into account right from the design stage and minimizing the consumption of primary raw materials.

Comprehensive
At the corporate level, sustainability for us is a matter of comprehensive social and environmental responsibility. More than just environmental management according to ISO 14001 and energy efficiency according to ISO 50001, at KRAIBURG TPE this involves a whole bundle of targeted measures. This begins with safety and health care in our plants and also extends to further training and equal opportunities for employees. In addition, we use regional food in our company canteens and use fair trade products wherever possible, as well as recycled paper. 

Consistent
But what about in production and product development? As a solid foundation of our sustainability strategy, we pursue consistent environmental and energy planning here, which helps to conserve resources and avoid waste when effectively implemented. This ranges from significant savings in raw material, water, electricity and gas consumption to thermoplastic elastomers that are basically recyclable and - increasingly - also contain recycled material.

All this is associated with major challenges. But they can be solved if we do not sit them out but tackle them holistically. We will report on the details of this strategy and its implementation here shortly. Stay tuned!
