FAQ Part 1/2: ISCC PLUS at KRAIBURG TPE

FAQ Part 2/2: ISCC PLUS at KRAIBURG TPE

The first webinar on ISCC PLUS was a great success for KRAIBURG TPE. It has been shown that the topic is relevant for many listeners and that the company is therefore receiving a lot of interest. With certified compounds, KRAIBURG TPE customers benefit from full traceability in the supply chain and, in some cases, a significantly reduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).

The most frequently asked questions from the webinar have been answered by KRAIBURG TPE's ISCC PLUS experts in two blogposts. You can find the first set of questions and answers below:

How is it ensured that the entire supply chain is ISCC PLUS certified?

Every upstream entity in KRAIBURG TPE’s supply chain, all the way to the biomaterial farm/plantation or waste collection point, must undergo the rigorous ISCC PLUS audit process - including distributors and warehouses. The process requires suppliers' sustainability declarations to be verified. This ensures that when KRAIBURG TPE purchases ISCC PLUS certified raw materials, upstream suppliers also meet the ISCC PLUS requirements.

How does ISCC PLUS relate to greenwashing allegations?

ISCC PLUS does not certify the physical presence of sustainable raw materials in a particular product. The concept is similar to renewable electricity, where customers pay a higher price but cannot trace the exact source of the electricity coming out of the socket. It does, however, incentivize companies to gradually increase the amount of sustainable raw materials in their overall production.

What is the methodology used by KRAIBURG TPE to calculate the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of its compounds?

KRAIBURG TPE calculates the PCF according to ISO 14067, ISO 14044, ISO 14040 and the GHG Protocol.
